The Eternal is the upcoming 15th studio album by Sonic Youth which is to be released on June 9, 2009. It is the first studio album to be released since Rather Ripped (June 13, 2006) making it the longest period in between studio albums by Sonic Youth. It was the first Sonic Youth album to be released on Matador Records. The cover art was painted by John Fahey. The album has been leaked onto file sharing networks as of June 1, 2009.

West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum is the third studio album by English alternative rock band Kasabian, to be released on 8th June 2009. Vlad The Impaler was made available as a free download from the official website from 31st March to 3rd April 2009. The first proper, physical release from the album will be "Fire", released on 1st June. Sergio Pizzorno has likened the 52 minute long album to that of “the soundtrack to an imaginary movie.”" Opening with the track "Underdog", the album includes a duet, on the track West Ryder/Silver Bullet, with the actress Rosario Dawson.

Happiness is the third full-length album from post-hardcore band Dance Gavin Dance. It will be released by Rise Records on June 9, 2009. The band went into the studio to record the album on February 14, 2009. On April 10, they uploaded new artwork and a recording of the new song "Tree Village" onto their MySpace profile. This is their first album without former lead screamer Jonathan Mess and former bassist Eric Lodge. It is also their only album with former bassist Jason Ellis, who left after the recording.

The E.N.D (an abbreviation for Energy Never Dies) is the fifth studio album by American hip hop group the Black Eyed Peas. It was released on June 3, 2009, as is scheduled for release worldwide on June 9, 2009. The album's lead single, "Boom Boom Pow", has topped the Billboard Hot 100 for eight consecutive weeks, and is also the group's first chart-topper on any U.S. chart. The second official single from The E.N.D, "I Gotta Feelin'", premiered at noonday, May 21 on KIIS FM. Prior to the release of the album, three promotional singles will be made available for download through the iTunes Store. These are "Imma Be", which was released on May 19; "Alive", which was released on May 23; and "Meet Me Halfway", which premiered on May 28, 2009 and is pending a June 2 release. While "Imma Be" has reached #10 on the iTunes store thus far, will.i.am has confirmed that these three songs should not be regarded as true singles from the album.
