Scissor Sisters
The Scissor Sisters is a Grammy Award-nominated American band that formed in 2001. Their style draws from disco, glam rock, pop and the club scene of New York City.
The group was named after a sex position between two women (tribadism). While experiencing only limited mainstream success in the United States, the band has been hugely successful in Europe, Canada, Australia, and particularly in the UK, where they have achieved a number of chart hits, as well as their debut album becoming the best-selling album of 2004 in that country. Their single "I Don't Feel Like Dancin'" was the fourth best-selling single in the UK in 2006 and stayed in the UK top 40 for 27 weeks.

Peaches
Merrill Beth Nisker (born 1968 in Toronto, Ontario), better known as Peaches, is an electronica musician whose songs are notable for their use of sexual imagery. She is currently living in Berlin.
History
Before she became Peaches, Nisker was an elementary school music and drama teacher. She plays almost all the instruments for her songs, programs her own electronic beats and produces her records. She released her first album, Fancypants Hoodlum, under the name Merrill Nisker in 1995, and subsequently developed the style and persona that would take her to international fame as Peaches. In Toronto before rising to fame, she was the roommate of fellow recording artist Feist. Her songs have been featured in movies such as Mean Girls, Waiting..., Jackass Number Two, My Little Eye, and Lost in Translation. Her music has also been featured on television shows such as Showtime's The L Word and Ugly Betty, and has been used for the promotion of Dirt. Peaches performed guest vocals on Pink's album Try This, on the song "Oh My God," and on the Chicks on Speed album 99 Cents, on the song "We Don't Play Guitars." For her fourth album, 2006's Impeach My Bush, Peaches enlisted guest musicians Joan Jett, Greg Kurstin, Josh Homme, Samantha Maloney, Beth Ditto, Feist, Dave Catching, Brian O'Connor and Radio Sloan to perform on several of the tracks. The Herms (short for hermaphrodites) were formed in spring 2006 as Peaches' live backing band. They played at small and large venues alike with sex and sex related themes as the "shock factor" for the audience. "Herms" is a reference to 70's duo Peaches & Herb and blending of words her and him. Peaches and Herms was the opening act for Nine Inch Nails and Bauhaus during the second half of their 2006 summer U.S. tour. Peaches played two shows in New Zealand in September 2008 with Germany based band Sweet Machine. Her sold out show at San Francisco Bath House in Wellington featured several songs from her forthcoming album I Feel Cream, including opening number "Showstopper" and the tender "Lose You" which took the artist in a softer direction than many of her fans may be used to seeing. Peaches played live at the Parklife Festival in Australia, October 2008, and performed a DJ set at the Parklife after party (Afterlife) at the Met Nightclub in Brisbane on the October 4. Her new album, I Feel Cream, will be released on May 4th in Europe and May 5th in North America. The first single from the project is a double a-side of Talk To Me and More.

Le Tigre
Le Tigre is an American dance-punk band, formed by Kathleen Hanna (formerly of Bikini Kill) and Johanna Fateman in 1998. It also featured Sadie Benning from 1998 until 2001, and JD Samson for the rest of the group's run. Le Tigre is known for its socio-political lyrics, dealing with issues of feminism and the LGBT community. The band is currently on hiatus.
In 2006, Le Tigre contributed to Yoko Ono's Yes, I'm A Witch album by remixing "Sisters O Sisters". Le Tigre licensed two of their songs for use in advertisements by Canadian telephone provider Telus and Australian jewellery chain Goldmark. A sample from "Deceptacon" (one letter changed from Decepticon) plays in the background of a 2006 television commercial for Nivea cosmetics. The song is featured in the 2006 Norwegian film Reprise during its comical party scene. Le Tigre's "TKO" is featured in the 2006 movie Accepted, as well as on FOX's Teen Drama The OC in Season 2, and The CW's Teen Drama One Tree Hill in Season 3. The Boston Red Sox radio broadcast often uses a sample of "Deceptacon", the first song on Le Tigre's debut album, as filler when returning from commercial break. The song was also featured in the Girl Skateboard Company's film Yeah Right! (playing during Rick McCrank's skateboarding segment), the freestyle ski film Teddybear Crisis, and Robot Food's Snowboard film Afterbang, thus elevating it to cult status among skateboarders, freestyle skiers, snowboarders, and the like. Many of their songs feature prominently in the 2007 film Itty Bitty Titty Committee.

Ladytron
Ladytron are an electronic pop band originally formed in Liverpool, UK. Ladytron formed in the summer of 1999 when Liverpool musicians and DJs Reuben Wu and Daniel Hunt met dual singers Glaswegian Helen Marnie and Bulgarian born Mira Aroyo.
The name of the band was taken from the song of the same name by Roxy Music. Their debut album, 604 (2001), was released on the Emperor Norton/Invicta HIFI labels. The single "Playgirl" brought some national and international attention to the band. Light & Magic (2002) was released to wider exposure and included the underground hits "Seventeen", "Evil", and "Blue Jeans". Following 18 months on tour supporting Light & Magic, Ladytron recorded their third album, Witching Hour (2005). The album was released with two singles; "Sugar" and "Destroy Everything You Touch". The band were awarded 5 NME singles of the week in the process. The band finished work on their fourth studio album, Velocifero, in February 2008. It had a full release worldwide on June 3, after making the top 40 through a two week exclusive release on iTunes. Velocifero was recorded in Paris, with the band handling production duties with some collaboration from Alessandro Cortini (Modwheelmood, Nine Inch Nails) and Vicarious Bliss (Justice, DJ Mehdi). Velocifero has been the band's most successful release to date.

Jay Jay Johanson
Jay-Jay Johanson (born 1969) is a Swedish musician and singer-songwriter, known for his melancolic vocals and his androgynous looks. His music has integrated the trip-hop genre until he switched his sound to a more electroclash oriented direction with the 2003 release Antenna, which featured "On The Radio".
Once voted "the most beautiful man in the world", Swedish singer/songwriter Jay-Jay Johanson, born in Trollhättan, October 11, 1969, released his first album, "Whiskey", in August 1996. Recorded at Break My Heart Studios, in the Stockholm archipelago. The album was caractarized by its jazzy vocals over trippy, film noir arrangements.
In 1998, Johanson released "Tattoo", taking a step into a more richly textured, poetic ambience. Johanssons third album, "Poison", was released in April 2000 and went straight into the French charts at number four. The album featured contributions from The Cocteau Twin founder and guitarist Robin Guthrie. The same year Johanson also composed the soundtrack to the film "La Confusion Des Genres", made by French director Ilan Cohen, & in 2001, Jay-Jay Johanson emerged with "Cosmodrome", a sound-and-image installation first exhibited in Dijon. This art-piece has travelled around the world and was last shown at Musée d'Art Modern in Paris.
"Antenna" was released in 2002, recorded with assistance from german electronica experimentalists Funkstörung. 2004 marked the release of a compilation, "Prologue", meant for the American market. It was followed by new album "Rush" in 2005, an album partly produced by French producer Jean-Pierre Ensuque.
In the spring of 2006 Jay-Jay Johanson called together the musicians he had worked with on the three first albums, and January 2007 saw the release of their collaborative effort "The Long Term Physical Effects Are Not Yet Known". A "Long Term" tour started off in China and continued to more that 30 cities around the world.

Green Velvet
Curtis Alan Jones is an electronica and house music singer, songwriter and producer born April 26, 1968, in Chicago, Illinois. His style of house music has been compared and inspired by the likes of Kraftwerk, Prince, Gary Numan, and Nitzer Ebb. After appearing under a host of different names for his various remixing and side projects, Green Velvet released his fourth album, Walk In Love, in 2005.
This album had a more house music-oriented style to it, but the odd Prince and Punk-sounding tracks still remained, as Curtis actually got a live guitarist to play on “Come Back” and the closing track Pin Up Girl had a similarity to New York based Electroclash group Fischerspooner. After Walk In Love, Green Velvet produced and remixed releases for fellow Relief Records artists and himself, and played a host of DJ session live shows in 2006.
In a shocking turn, after staying quiet in the music scene, Green Velvet revealed in 2006 he had become a born again Christian after a serious overdose of a mixture of Magic Mushrooms, Marijuana, and GHB, and promised to turn his life around after this incident. His latest release, the single “Shake and Pop,” is a departure from the recent darker electronica style, as he claims he has found a brighter future since converting. In 2007, he released the online only track “Love Peace, Not War,” a short ditty in response to the United States’ war in Iraq.
Fischerspooner
Fischerspooner is an electroclash duo and performance troupe formed in 1998 in New York. The name comes directly from the founders' last names, Warren Fischer and Casey Spooner. Spiking retro electropop tendencies (arguably similar to Kraftwerk, early Depeche Mode, and Gary Numan) Fischerspooner utilizes a modern approach to programming.
Originally a duo formed by classically trained musician Warren Fischer and video-artist and experimental theater performer Casey Spooner for an impromptu rendition of their makeshift track "Indian Cab Driver" at the Astor Place Starbucks, the group grew to over 20 performers, most of whom are dancers and guest vocalists.

Felix da Housecat (born Felix Stallings Jr. on August 27, 1971 in Chicago, Illinois) is a DJ and record producer. He was born in Highland Park Hospital. Felix is a producer and DJ mostly known for house music and electroclash.
Felix is regarded as a member of the second wave of Chicago house. He entered the dance music elite not only via his recordings (under a number of aliases, including Thee Maddkatt Courtship, Aphrohead and Sharkimaxx), but also for his ownership of Radikal Fear Records, one of the premiere Chicago labels of the 1990s.

DJ Hell
DJ Hell (real name Helmut Josef Geier, born in Altenmarkt an der Alz on September 6, 1962) is a German House/Techno DJ. He is the label boss of International DeeJay Gigolo Records and has been responsible for many of the big records to come out of the Electroclash or German Squelch scene that emerged in Berlin in the mid-nineties.
He is seen as the musical initiator of the 80s Revival movement later known as Electroclash popularizing the music from his hometown Munich from the mid to late 90s. In 2006, DJ Hell was involved in a German Intel promotional campaign involving five renowned demogroups (Andromeda Software Development, Conspiracy, Fairlight, Farbrausch and mfx), who were set out to create 30-second demos using remixed versions of a DJ Hell track.
DJ Hell's Hit single Keep On Waiting was produced using samples as a basic track from a song titled Blurb by a New York based group known as Intense Molecular Activity. IMAs 4 track EP was released in 1980 on an independent label.
CSS
CSS is a Brazilian band from São Paulo, whose songs have an electroclash sound, but they also play indie rock and synthpop songs. The band was labeled as part of the explosion of the New Rave scene. Their songs are in both English and Portuguese.
CSS is an acronym for Cansei de Ser Sexy, literally "I got tired of being sexy" in Portuguese. CSS formed in September 2003, consisting of a group of friends. Their name was taken from a reported quote by Beyoncé, who allegedly declared that she was "tired of being sexy".
The band first achieved notoriety through the Internet. Some of its members, like Adriano Cintra, had been previously known in São Paulo's underground club scene, but not outside of the local alternative subculture. Others, like Lovefoxxx, were owners of popular fotolog and flickr pages. Their collective band fotolog also gained popularity and their songs were frequently downloaded from Trama Virtual's website (a Brazilian website loosely similar to MySpace Music). Trama Virtual invested heavily in the band, inviting a series of Brazilian and British journalists to report on them. Articles were printed in several Brazilian magazines and the British newspaper The Guardian, whose reporter, Peter Culshaw, was invited to see the band playing just before their signing for the debut, at a club in São Paulo. He predicted that they "could be the biggest band ever to come out of South America". Several songs by CSS were featured in mainstream media: "Meeting Paris Hilton" was featured in the Latin American broadcasting of The Simple Life, "Superafim" was used in the Brazilian version of the Big Brother reality show, and "Computer Heat" was used in the South American version of the game The Sims 2: Nightlife, including a version in Simlish. Still without a record deal, they released two independent EPs in 2004, and played that year at TIM Festival.
Black Strobe
Black Strobe (sometimes Blackstrobe) were formed in Paris in 1997 by producer Arnaud Rebotini and DJ Ivan Smagghe, and were instrumental in the rise of the electroclash movement in the UK with their breakthrough single Me And Madonna.
Originally producing in the house genre, they later became more influenced by music from the 1970s and 1980s, especially industrial post punk and camp, European electronic body music (or EBM). However, they describe their dark electrosound as "frozen balearic gay biker house".They are heavily influenced by such bands as Cabaret Voltaire, Nitzer Ebb, Front 242 and Depeche Mode. They are much sought after as remixers, and worked with such diverse artists as Röyksopp, Nitzer Ebb, Rammstein, The Rapture, and Tiefschwarz.
Ivan Smagghe left in 2006 as Black Strobe expanded to a four-piece live band, with members David "Siskid" Shaw (guitar), Bastien Burger (bass and keyboard) and Benjamin Beaulieu (drums) joining Rebotini on vocals and with Smagghe contributing lyrics. They released their debut album Burn Your Own Church in 2007.
