Reamonn
Reamonn is a German rock and pop band that is well known all over Europe. They recorded six albums.
In 1997, Rea Garvey left his band The Reckless Pedestrians and home town of Tralee, Ireland to go to Germany with not a lot money and a demo CD in his pocket. He put an ad into local paper Stockacher Anzeiger stating, "Singer requires band for recording and live shows." Mike Gommeringer (Gomezz) saw this ad and accurately assumed it must have been Garvey, whose original band he had once seen play live. The twosome met up and subsequently recruited Uwe, Sebi and Phil. Their first gig was played on New Year's Eve 1998 in Stockach. In order to secure a recording contract, they set up a showcase at Logo, a small club in Hamburg, in front of 16 representatives from various record labels in 1999. The band was quickly offered several contracts, settling on signing with Virgin Records Germany. As of 2006 they are now releasing their music through Universal Music. On July 7, 2007 the band performed at the German leg of Live Earth in Hamburg's HSH Nordbank Arena. The same year Garvey provided vocals for Trance DJ Paul van Dyk's song "Let Go". On July 24, 2008 the group was chosen as the opening act for Barack Obama's speech at The Siegessäule in Berlin, before an estimated crowd of 200,000. The band made the then United States Senator an honorary Reamonn member, presenting him with a band ring. On December 20, 2008 Reamonn played their song "Faith" as an entrance theme for boxer Nikolai Valuev leading up to his WBA championship fight versus Evander Holyfield in Zürich.

Persephone's Bees
Persephone's Bees is an Oakland-based rock/pop music group. Growing up in Pyatigorsk, Russia, lead singer Angelina Moysov was musically inspired by her family: her mother played traditional folk/gypsy music while her brother played modern music.
After immigrating to America in 1993, she formed Persephone's Bees with Tom Ayres (who plays guitar), Paul Bertolino (drums), and Mike Farrell (bass). Their first LP, City of Love, was nominated for best debut album at the California Music Awards, along with being voted "Best Bay Area Pop Band" by SF Weekly. Afterwards, they signed to Columbia Records and released their major label debut, Notes from the Underworld. They toured with The New Cars as their opening act during their Winter Road Rage Tour '06.

Live
In their live performances as the opening act for The New Cars, they play a 5-6 song set featuring "Way to Your Heart", "Nice Day", "Muzika Dlya Fil'ma", and "Paper Plane" among others. They normally end with "City of Love", which is much extended from the studio version, and features Moysov playing the guitar, without looking, behind Ayres' back. Shortly after this, Ayres and Farrell switch instruments, during which Farrell plays a guitar solo.
Media
The song "City Of Love" was used in a Cingular Razr phone commercial and in the film Bewitched.
"Nice Day" is used in the TV commercial for the Hilton Hotels. It is also featured on the Nancy Drew movie soundtrack.
"Way to your Heart" appeared in a J.C. Penney advertisement during February 2007.
"Queen’s Night Out" was used in a branding spot for Gucci.
The song "City of Love" was also used in Zac Posen's spring ready-to-wear runway collection in 2007.
"Muzika Dlya Fil'ma" is featured on the soundtrack of Fifa 07.
Angelina's vocal was used in the opening titles soundtrack of the Showtime show Weeds. In the episode 12/season 3 "The Dark Time" originally aired on October 29, 2007 Angelina performed her version of "Little Boxes". Angelina and her brother Oleg have adapted original lyrics into the mix of English and Russian for the said performance.
"Nice Day" is currently (Oct 2007- current as of October 2008) used on French TV in a commercial for "PagesJaunes", a telephone directory editor in France.
The song "Home" was on the end of episode 76 "Cold Stones" of the Sopranos.

Paul McCartney
Sir James Paul McCartney MBE (born 18 June 1942) is a multiple Grammy Award-winning English singer-songwriter, poet, composer, multi-instrumentalist, entrepreneur, record producer, film producer, painter, and animal rights activist.
He gained worldwide fame as a member of The Beatles, with John Lennon, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. McCartney and Lennon formed one of the most influential and successful songwriting partnerships and wrote some of the most popular music in rock and roll history. After leaving The Beatles, McCartney launched a successful solo career and formed the band Wings with his first wife, Linda Eastman McCartney, and singer-songwriter, Denny Laine. He has worked on film scores, classical music, and ambient/electronica music, released a large catalogue of songs as a solo artist, and taken part in projects to help international charities. McCartney is listed in Guinness World Records as the most successful musician and composer in popular music history, with 60 gold discs and sales of 100 million singles. His song "Yesterday" is listed as the most covered song in history by over 3,700 artists so far & has been played more than 7,000,000 times on American television and radio. Wings' 1977 single "Mull of Kintyre" became the first single to sell more than two million copies in the UK, and remains the UK's top selling non-charity single. (Three charity singles have since surpassed it in sales; the first to do so in 1984 was Band Aid's "Do They Know It's Christmas?", whose participants included McCartney.) According to britishhitsongwriters.com he is the most successful songwriter in U.K. singles chart history based on weeks that his compositions have spent on the chart. His company MPL Communications owns the copyrights to more than 3,000 songs, including all of the songs written by Buddy Holly, along with the publishing rights to such musicals as Guys and Dolls, A Chorus Line, and Grease. McCartney is also an advocate for animal rights, vegetarianism, and music education; he is active in campaigns against landmines, seal hunting, and Third World debt.
Film
McCartney was interested in animated films as a child, and later had the financial resources to ask Geoff Dunbar to direct a short animated film called Rupert and the Frog Song, in 1981. McCartney wrote the music and the script, was the producer, and added some of the characters voices. Dunbar worked again with McCartney on an animated film about the work of French artist Honore Daumier, in 1992, which won both of them a Bafta award. They also worked on Tropic Island Hum, in 1997. In 1995, McCartney directed a short documentary about The Grateful Dead.

Pat Benatar
Pat Benatar (born Patricia Mae Andrzejewski on January 10, 1953) is a four-time Grammy Award-winning American singer best known for hit songs "Love Is a Battlefield" and the iconic 80's hits "Hit Me with Your Best Shot" and "Heartbreaker".
Benatar is a top-selling artist, and one of the 1980s Top Platinum Album Recipients, according to the Recording Industry Association of America with 12.5 million certified units, including two RIAA-certified Multi-Platinum albums, five RIAA-certified Platinum albums, three RIAA-certified Gold albums, plus 19 Top 40 singles to her credit. Recognized for her thrilling mezzo-soprano vocal range, Billboard Magazine ranked Benatar as the most successful female rock vocalist of all-time. Benatar became eligible for induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005. Born Patricia (Patti) Mae on January 10, 1953 in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, New York, to Andrew and Mildred Andrzejewski, the family moved from Brooklyn to N Hamilton Ave, Lindenhurst, Long Island when she was 3 years old. "I have wonderful childhood memories of picking berries in the "woods" by our house, driving to the "docks" on the South Bay to get freshly harvested clams," she said. The daughter of a sheet-metal worker and a beautician who once sang with the New York City Opera, Andrzejewski became interested in theater and began voice lessons, singing at Daniel Street Elementary School her first solo, a song called “It Must Be Spring,” at age eight. She said, "As a kid, I sang at any choir, any denomination, anywhere I could." At Lindenhurst Senior High School (1967 - 1971), Andrzejewski participated in musical theater, playing Queen Guinevere in the school production of Camelot, marching in the homecoming parade, singing at the annual Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony, and performing a solo of "The Christmas Song" on a holiday recording of the Lindenhurst High School Choir her senior year. Andrzejewski was cut off from the rock scene in nearby Manhattan though because her parents were "ridiculously strict I was allowed to go to symphonies, opera and theater but I couldn't go to clubs," and her musical training was strictly classical and theatrical. She said, "I was singing Puccini and "West Side Story" but I spent every afternoon after school with my little transistor radio listening to the Rolling Stones..."
Band
Although billed as a solo artist, Benatar recorded and toured with a consistent set of band members over most of her career, who contributed greatly to the writing and producing of songs and are recognizable characters on album photos and in many of her music videos.
* Neil "Spyder" Giraldo (incorrectly spelled as "Geraldo" in early liner notes/credits) is the distinctive lead guitarist of the band and has performed on all of Benatar's albums. (He is also Pat's second husband.) He was born on December 29, 1955. Neil also sings, plays keyboards and harmonica, and has many writing and producing credits on the Benatar albums. Neil performed with Myron Grombacher in Rick Derringer's touring band, appearing in a possible bootleg entitled Derringer Live At The Paradise Theater Boston, Massachusetts, July 7, 1978.
* Myron Grombacher is billed as drummer on nine of Benatar's albums and has numerous writing credits. Myron is easily recognizable in the music videos, particularly as the mad dentist in Get Nervous.
* Charlie Giordano performed keyboard duties on five albums, and is identifiable by his glasses and distinctive array of berets, blazers and 80s-style ties. In 2007, he replaced the late Danny Federici in the E Street Band.
* The original bass guitarist was Roger Capps, replaced on Tropico by Donnie Nossov, and then later by Frank Linx.
* Scott Sheets is credited on rhythm guitar on the first few albums.
By 1983, Benatar had established a reputation for singing about "tough" subject matters, with a significant amount of songs featuring a "battle" metaphor. This was best exemplified by one of the biggest hits of her career, "Love Is a Battlefield" (penned by noted hit songwriter Holly Knight with Mike Chapman), released in December 1983. By then her sound had mellowed from hard rock to more atmospheric pop and the story-based video clip for "Love Is a Battlefield" was aimed squarely at MTV, even featuring Benatar in a Michael Jackson-inspired group dance number. This new pop direction was a huge commercial success, with the single peaking at #5 in the United States, her first hit single in the UK at #49, and #1 in Australia for seven weeks. The song would also net Benatar her fourth consecutive Grammy Award for "Best Female Rock Vocal Performance" of 1983. A live album, Live from Earth, from which "Love Is a Battlefield" was one of two studio-recorded tracks hit U.S. #13 and her fifth consecutive RIAA platinum winner.
Paolo Nutini
Paolo Giovanni Nutini (born 9 January 1987) is a Scottish singer/songwriter from Paisley. His mother is Scottish, and his father is of Italian descent, from Barga, Tuscany, although his father's family has been in Scotland for four generations.
Paolo made his first demo which saw him signed to Atlantic Records in May 2005, shortly after his 18th birthday. He released his first single "These Streets" as a free download in May 2006, this was then followed by his next single "Last Request" which was released on 4 July 2006 and charted at #5 in the official UK charts. In the video for "Last Request", Nutini plays the part of a robber - though this is not revealed until the end. Nutini's third single, "Jenny Don't Be Hasty", was released on 25 September 2006 and got to #20 on the UK Singles Chart. "Rewind" was Nutini's fourth single. It was released on 4 December 2006, and reached #27 in the UK. His debut album These Streets, produced by Ken Nelson (Coldplay/Gomez), was released on 17 July 2006 and immediately entered the UK album charts at #3. Many of the songs on the album, including "Last Request" and "Rewind", were inspired by a turbulent relationship with his girlfriend Teri Brogan, and "Jenny Don't Be Hasty" is a true story about encounters with an older woman. These Streets, as Paolo himself puts it on his official website, he states, "The album is a little glimpse of some of the experiences I have been through in the last three years". New self-produced second album Sunny Side Up is due to be released on June 1, 2009.

No Doubt
No Doubt is an American rock band from Anaheim, California, founded in 1986. The ska-pop sound of their first album, No Doubt, failed to make waves due to the popularity of the grunge movement at the time.
The band's diamond-certified album Tragic Kingdom helped to launch the ska revival of the 1990s, and "Don't Speak", the third single from the album, set a record when it spent sixteen weeks at the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 Airplay chart. The group released its next album, Return of Saturn, four years later, but despite positive reviews, the album was considered a commercial failure. Fifteen months later, the band reappeared with Rock Steady, which incorporated reggae and dancehall music into their work. The album was primarily recorded in Jamaica and featured collaborations with Jamaican artists Bounty Killer, Sly and Robbie, and Lady Saw. The album produced two Grammy-winning singles, "Hey Baby" and "Underneath It All". No Doubt released the compilation The Singles 1992–2003 and box set Boom Box in 2003, both of which contained a cover version of the Talk Talk synthpop song "It's My Life". Frontwoman Gwen Stefani launched her solo career the next year with several collaborations, including bandmate Tony Kanal and Neptune Pharrell Williams, while guitarist Tom Dumont began his side project, Invincible Overlord. During its career, the band has won two Grammy Awards and sold 27 million records worldwide to date. The band will embark on a national tour throughout the summer of 2009.
With Stefani promoting her second solo album, No Doubt began initial work on a new album without her & planned to complete it after Stefani's tour was finished. In March 2008, the band started making posts concerning the progression of the album on their official fan forum. Stefani made a post on March 28, 2008 stating that songwriting had commenced but was slow on her end because she was, at the time, pregnant with her second child. Manager Jim Guerinot said the yet-untitled album is being produced by Mark "Spike" Stent, who helped produce and mix Rock Steady. Between Stefani's pregnancy and recording, No Doubt did not tour in 2008 but, Guerinot promised, they plan to hit the road hard in 2009 for their first full-fledged band tour in nearly five years. "The Singles 92-03" was released on Dec. 9th for the Rock Band video game series. All members of No Doubt except for Stefani are appearing as Scott Weiland's backing band on the upcoming album Happy In Galoshes. Kanal produced two tracks called "Sober" and "Funhouse" on Pink's album, Funhouse. No Doubt announced on their official website that they will tour in the summer of 2009 with Paramore, The Sounds, Janelle Monáe, and Bedouin Soundclash while finishing their upcoming album, which is set for release in 2010. Tickets for the tour go on sale March 7, 2009. As a special promotion for the tour, the band is giving away their entire music catalog free as a digital download with purchase of top tier seating.

Nick Kershaw
Nik Kershaw (born Nicholas David Kershaw, 1 March 1958, Bristol, England) is an English singer-songwriter. The one time jazz-funk guitarist was a mid 1980s teen idol. His 50 weeks on the UK Singles Chart in 1984 beat all other soloists. Kershaw appeared at Live Aid, and penned hits for Let Loose, The Hollies and a #1 for Chesney Hawkes.
Although born in Bristol, Kershaw grew up in Ipswich and after leaving Northgate High School in 1976, Kershaw worked as a shop assistant and in the Department of Employment for several years, during which time he played guitar and sang in a number of underground Ipswich bands. However, when the last of these, Fusion, split up in 1982, he embarked on a full time career as a songwriter and performer. In 1983, he signed a recording contract with MCA Records, a deal which spawned his debut single, "I Won't Let the Sun Go Down on Me". At the beginning of 1984, Kershaw released his breakthrough song "Wouldn't It Be Good", featuring a music video of Kershaw as a chroma key-suited alien. The song reached Number 4 in the UK Singles Chart, and was a big success in Europe, particularly in Germany, Italy, Switzerland and in Scandinavia, and in Australia. He enjoyed three more Top 20 hits from his debut album Human Racing, including the title track and a successful re-issue of his debut single "I Won't Let the Sun Go Down on Me". This track ultimately proved his biggest hit as a performer when it reached Number 2 in the UK.
Personal life
In June 1983 Kershaw married his Canadian girlfriend of long standing, Sheri. She is credited with backing vocals on several of his albums, and was the uncredited lead singer on the B-side of "Don Quixote" and "Don't Lie". They have three children. Nik and Sheri Kershaw separated in November 2003.

Morrissey
Steven Patrick Morrissey born 22 May 1959, known primarily as Morrissey, is a British singer-songwriter. After a short stint in the punk rock band The Nosebleeds in the late 1970s, he rose to prominence in the 1980s as the lyricist and vocalist of the alternative rock band The Smiths.
After the band's breakup in 1987, Morrissey began a solo career, in which he continued the jangle pop sound of The Smiths. Morrissey's solo albums have garnered ten Top 10 singles in the United Kingdom. Music magazine NME has described Morrissey as "one of the most influential artists ever" and The Independent has stated that "most pop stars have to be dead before they reach the iconic status that he has reached in his lifetime." Pitchfork Media has called him "one of the most singular figures in Western pop culture from the last 20 years." Morrissey's sardonic, literate lyrics tend to be "dramatic...bleak, funny vignettes about doomed relationships, lonely nightclubs, the burden of the past and the prison of the home." His "forthright, often contrary opinions" led to a number of media controversies, and he has also attracted media attention from his advocacy of vegetarianism and animal rights.

Matisse
Matisse is an alternative rock band from Athens, Greece formed in 1999. They took their name from the famous French painter Henri Matisse.
Matisse was originally formed in 1997 by Aris Siafas, Giannis Massouras, Grigoris Κolias, Petros Tsolis, Kostas Synodinos and Basilis Zervos without making any significant actions as a band. The band became active, when they started performing and writing songs for the first time in January 1999. In the beginning of their career the band was making live performances, mostly in small venues in Athens. Still though, they didn't have enough money for recordings. Matisse have also supported many acts including Reamonn, Puressence, Shed Seven, The Frank and Walters, Drugstore. They continued their live performances and demonstrations for the next three years, until they signed a contract with Sony BMG Greece in 2001. By winter of 2002, they began recording their EP 4 (Four), which was released in the summer of 2003. Two years after the release of their EP 4 (Four), in June 2005 Matisse released their debut album Cheap As Art which hit the #3 spot on Pop & Rock Magazine's "Best of the Year List". The lead single of the album She Smiles, became a radio classic. Enthusiastically received by the critics Cheap As Art set off the band to a great start. A few days after the release of their debut, Matisse opened the first day of the Rockwave Festival as supporting act for Garbage and Marilyn Manson. Their performance was welcomed by journalists and public alike. In the beginning of 2006, the band started writing material for their second album, with few changes in their line-up; Kostas Synodinos departed from the group and Petros Tsolis was replaced by Nikos Manosopulos. In December of the same year they also supported Kaiser Chiefs in their live performance in Greece. In May 2007 their second album Toys Up was released. In 2007, Aris Siafas left the band for personal reasons. He was replaced by Alex Kavadias, a Greek-Australian singer. The band re-released Toys Up, in deluxe edition, with videos, remixes, as well as a new mix from their cover on Cindy Lauper's song "She Bop" performed by their new singer Alex.

Maroon 5
Maroon 5 are an American rock band. Formed with only two members at the French Woods Festival of the Performing Arts & expanded in Los Angeles, Maroon 5 have sold over 10 million albums in the United States and nearly 15 million world wide.
The band performed throughout the summer and fall of 2007, including a North American tour with The Hives. They followed that with a world tour with New Found Glory. Beginning March 28, 2008, they toured with Counting Crows and Sara Bareilles. In 2005, they won a Grammy Award for Best New Artist. The four original members of Maroon 5 have known each other since attending Brentwood School together in Los Angeles. While attending Brentwood School, Adam Levine and Jesse Carmichael joined up with Mickey Madden and Ryan Dusick to form Kara's Flowers, a garage/grunge band. The name was taken from a girl that the band had a "collective crush" on. The band played its first gig at Whisky a Go Go on September 16, 1995. While they were playing a beach party in Malibu, indie producer Tim Allen heard them playing and offered to manage them, which eventually led to their deal with Reprise Records and producer Rob Cavallo. Very early on, their sound was what Carmichael called "Fugazi and System of Down meets Sesame Street". However, by the release of The Fourth World in 1997, they had morphed into band reminiscent of 1960s Brit pop. Despite high expectations from the band and record company, the album failed to catch on and their lead single, "Soap Disco", was a failure. According to Levine, the failure of the album was "a huge disappointment" that nearly led them to break up in 1998. Levine & Carmichael went to college in Long Island, New York, while Madden and Dusick stayed home in L.A. In the interim, Levine and Carmichael were exposed for the first time to the gospel, hip-hop and R&B of their largely African-American schoolmates.
