The Real Thing is the eighth studio album (ninth overall) by Vanessa Williams, released in the United States on June 2, 2009 by Concord Records. The album, produced by Babyface, Keith Thomas, Rob Mathes, and Rex Rideout, features songs written by Stevie Wonder, Bill Withers, Babel Gilberto, Phil Galdston and Babyface. Williams' herself has described the album as "a hybrid of samba, bossa nova, some salsa and also some pop and R&B" Singles from the album include, Breathless, Just Friends, and Close To You.
