David Lynch music from the 'Fox Bat Strategy' album 2009

"This is what I call 'modern '50s' music," says David Lynch about the exclusive track EW is streaming here from a new, Lynch-lyric'd album called Fox Bat Strategy. The director of Blue Velvet, Inland Empire, and so many other dream-nightmares told EW, "I produced this music and wrote these lyrics, and these songs sat on the shelf since about 2006 until now." Lynch has entitled the album Fox Bat Strategy: A Tribute to Dave Jaurequi, in honor of the recording's guitarist and vocalist, who died in 2006 at age 50. As you can hear on this track, "Shoot The Works," Jaurequi intones Lynch's love lyric like a rockabilly balladeer. When I suggested that Jaurequi sounds like Ricky Nelson on a midnight prowl, Lynch says, "Yeah! That’s right! I love that '50s feel of innocence and pain mingling."

Burn Burn is the upcoming seventh studio album by Canadian alternative rock band Our Lady Peace. It is set to be released on July 21, 2009 by Sony Music Entertainment in Canada, and through Warner Music Group in the United States. The title is based on a quote by Jack Kerouac from his 1957 novel On the Road. The album is Our Lady Peace's first not to have involved collaboration with an outside producer, and the first to be produced solely by band vocalist Raine Maida. The album's release will mark the longest gap between OLP studio albums to date, with their preceding album having been released in August 2005. It will also be their shortest album to date.

UUVVWWZ started as a band in 2007 in Lincoln, Nebraska. When we came up with the name we laughed. I wrote it on a ripped up brown paper bag that we had drawn some of our song structures on and pronounced while pointing, "Double 'U' double 'V' double 'W'... 'Z.'" Then we went back to working on our songs and being creative together with a good chance of pasta and cigarette breaks.

The E.N.D (an abbreviation for Energy Never Dies) is the fifth studio album by American hip hop group the Black Eyed Peas. It was released on June 3, 2009, as is scheduled for release worldwide on June 9, 2009. The album's lead single, "Boom Boom Pow", has topped the Billboard Hot 100 for eight consecutive weeks, and is also the group's first chart-topper on any U.S. chart. The second official single from The E.N.D, "I Gotta Feelin'", premiered at noonday, May 21 on KIIS FM. Prior to the release of the album, three promotional singles will be made available for download through the iTunes Store. These are "Imma Be", which was released on May 19; "Alive", which was released on May 23; and "Meet Me Halfway", which premiered on May 28, 2009 and is pending a June 2 release. Scary Fragile is the second album by Australian singer/songwriter Butterfly Boucher, recorded under Geffen Records. The singer uploaded one-off album tracks on her MySpace page at irregular intervals, on days referred to as 'Oops Days'. The first single from the album, "A Bitter Song," was released in 2007 onto the iTunes download service, following its feature in popular TV series Grey's Anatomy. Uplifter is the ninth studio album by 311 set to be released on June 2, 2009. It is the band's first album in four years, the longest gap ever between 311 albums. Dark Was the Night is the twentieth compilation release benefiting the Red Hot Organization, an international charity dedicated to raising funds and awareness for HIV and AIDS. Featuring exclusive recordings by a number of independent artists and production by Aaron and Bryce Dessner of The National, the compilation was released on 16 February 2009 (UK) and 17 February 2009 (US) as a double CD, three vinyl LPs, or as a digital download. John Carlin, the founder of the Red Hot Organization, was the executive producer for the album. The title is derived from the Blind Willie Johnson song "Dark Was the Night, Cold Was the Ground," which is covered on this collection by the Kronos Quartet.

Bromst is an album by the American electronic musician Dan Deacon. Bromst was partially recorded live, with the help of the below ensemble, as well as at a Montana studio called Snow Ghost. Deacon spent time there adding final touches and mastering Bromst. For a few of the tracks on Bromst, Deacon uses a player piano. The piano had to be re-wired so that each line was tracked individually, so the piano could keep up with what Deacon composed, which engineer Brett Allen claims to be impossibly fast to play on one piano.

Woods are on Woodsist Records, the NYC-based label that has also recently issued records by Vivian Girls, Wavves, Crystal Stilts, and Sic Alps. But unlike those groups, they focus on a more pastoral and rustic vein of songcraft rather than loft-ready noise. Due to their two-man setup and no-frills recording, Vancouver's Japandroids risk being lumped in with the no-fi/noise-pop scene (No Age, Wavves) that finds bands using distortion to tear through the fabric of the medium. But they're coming from somewhere else, sonically and emotionally. What makes Post-Nothing such a thrill is the manner in which these guys hold absolutely nothing back. They make terminally catchy music played with punk's enthusiasm and velocity that, perhaps because there are only two dudes in this band, makes you feel like joining in to bash along. And as contagious as any of the lyrics, melodies, riffs, or drum fills are, their energy and lack of self-consciousness is every bit as equally lovable. The album was given an 8.3 by music website Pitchfork and included in its "Best New Music" section. It has an overall score of 90% ("Universal acclaim") on Metacritic.

Wavering Radiant is the fifth full-length album by American post-metal group Isis, released by Ipecac Recordings and Conspiracy Records. The album was released on limited vinyl on April 21, 2009, and in CD format on May 5. Adam Jones of Tool plays on two tracks. On March 24, 2009, Isis added the song "20 Minutes / 40 Years" to their MySpace page, and a week before the album's release, made the entire record available for streaming. On May 13 the album entered the Billboard 200 at #98 and the Top Independent Albums chart in tenth spot representing the band's highest placing to date. It also entered the BBC Radio 1 Top 40 Rock Albums chart at #17; their first chart position outside the United States. It also entered the Norway National Chart at #37, their first chart exposure in this country. In the US the album sold 5,800 copies in the first week of its release.

Veckatimest is the third full-length album by Grizzly Bear. It is named after a small island in Dukes County, Massachusetts. It was released on May 26, 2009 to widespread critical acclaim. In summer 2008, Grizzly Bear began recording Veckatimest at Allaire Studios in the Catskill Mountains of upstate New York. Nico Muhly collaborated with Grizzly Bear on this album. In the interim they debuted four new songs: "Two Weeks," "While You Wait for the Others," "Fine for Now," and "Cheerleader." They also performed "While You Wait for the Others" on Late Night with Conan O'Brien on April 21, 2008, and "Two Weeks" on Late Show with David Letterman on July 23, 2008.

Shed Seven are an English indie rock band from York and were one of the groups which contributed to the Britpop music scene that evolved during the 1990s, yet never received the degree of mainstream success achieved by bands such as Oasis and Blur.

They formed in 1990 and originally comprised Rick Witter (vocals), Joe Johnson (guitar and keyboards, later replaced by Paul Banks), Tom Gladwin (bass) and Alan Leach (drums). They belonged to the post-Smiths wave of UK musicians such as The Sundays and Marion, with a sound relying heavily on complex guitar arpeggios in a minor or tonic key and wailing vocals. At the height of their popularity between 1994 and 1999 they had thirteen Top 40 singles and four Top 20 albums in the UK. The band officially broke up in 2003, but announced their reformation for a greatest hits tour in July 2007.

Shades Apart were an alternative rock musical group from Bridgewater, New Jersey. They are best known for their US radio hit "Valentine". The band formed in 1988, self-releasing an album that year; two EPs followed in 1992 and 1993.

1995's full-length, Save It, produced by Bill Stevenson and Stephen Egerton, resulted in some media exposure due to the success of their cover of Soft Cell's "Tainted Love". After another independent release in 1997, the band signed to Universal, who released Eyewitness in 1999 and Sonic Boom in 2001. In 1999, the single "Valentine" peaked at #31 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. Their song "Stranger By The Day" featured in the film American Pie and is on the soundtrack. The band has since broken up, though a reunion show was given in 2006 in Bound Brook, New Jersey.

The Sex Pistols are an English punk rock band that formed in London in 1975. The Sex Pistols are responsible for initiating the punk movement in the United Kingdom and inspiring many later punk and alternative rock musicians.

Although their initial career lasted just two-and-a-half years and produced only four singles and one studio album, Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols, they are regarded as one of the most influential acts in the history of popular music. The Sex Pistols originally comprised vocalist Johnny Rotten, guitarist Steve Jones, drummer Paul Cook and bassist Glen Matlock. Matlock was replaced by Sid Vicious in early 1977. Under the management of impresario Malcolm McLaren, the band created controversies which captivated Britain. Their concerts repeatedly faced difficulties with organisers and authorities and public appearances often ended in mayhem. Their 1977 single "God Save the Queen", attacking Britons' social conformity and deference to the crown, precipitated the "last and greatest outbreak of pop-based moral pandemonium". In January 1978, at the end of a turbulent US tour, Rotten left the band and announced its breakup. Over the next several months, the three other band members recorded songs for McLaren's film version of the Sex Pistols' story, The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle. Vicious died of a heroin overdose in February 1979. In 1996, Rotten, Jones, Cook and Matlock reunited for the Filthy Lucre Tour; since 2002, they have staged further reunion shows and tours. On 24 February 2006, the Sex Pistols were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but they refused to attend the ceremony, calling the museum "a piss stain".

Serge Gainsbourg (2 April 1928 – 2 March 1991) was a French singer-songwriter, actor and director. Gainsbourg's varied musical style and individuality made him difficult to categorize. His legacy has been firmly established, and he is often regarded as one of the world's most influential musicians.

Biography
Personal life
He was born Lucien Ginsburg in Paris, France, the son of Russian Jewish parents, Joseph Ginsburg (1896 - 22 April 1971) and Olga Bessman (1894 - 16 March 1985), who fled to France after the 1917 Bolshevik uprising. His childhood was profoundly affected by the occupation of France by Nazi Germany, during which he and his family, as Jews, were forced to wear the yellow star and eventually flee Paris. Before he was 30 years old, Gainsbourg was a disillusioned painter but earned his living as a piano player in bars.
